Robyn Doolittle will discuss her award-winning Unfounded series published in the Globe and Mail — an investigation that has sparked unprecedented policy and social change. Doolittle spent 20 months uncovering how police services handle sexual assault cases through more than 250 freedom of information requests and hundreds of interviews. What she uncovered was that Canadian law enforcement has been disproportionately dismissing rape cases as baseless. Part of what made the series so compelling is that the Globe built a national database that enabled anyone in the country to look up the rate of dismissed cases for their own local police service.
