The news is full of stories about the impact tech companies have on the economies of the communities where they're based. From building teams that are representative of the local community to building platforms that create true economic benefit for more people, the tech sector is facing many challenges in building equitable businesses. In this session we'll discuss the civic and economic context in which the tech industry is growing, how the sector is creating (or not) broadbased opportunity for more local residents, and what other cities can learn from our mistakes.
